Frequently Asked Questions!

Who are you?
Bromsgrove Rovers Supporters Society is registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965. Its sole function is to support Bromsgrove Rovers Football Club.
Importantly, we are totally independent of the management of the club.

What do you intend to do?
Like all small non-league clubs, Rovers are always in the need of extra money. We intend to raise funds to help the club.Tthe Society now has shares in Bromsgrove Roves Football Club and hopefully be allowed to appoint a Director. That would give the fans a say in the running of the club and representation at shareholders meetings.

Who helped you get set up?
We have received advice and financial support from Supporters Direct; a body set up with Government support specifically to help football fans play a responsible part in the club they support. The constitution was drawn up for us by a firm of solicitors, Corbetts, who specialize in helping societies.

What about accounts and ensuring the Society is being properly run?
The constitution is very specific about necessity of keeping accurate and proper accounts and the way in which they are audited. If the Society or anyone connected with it does not act within the terms of the constitution they could be breaking the law and render themselves liable to prosecution. All members have a right to inspect the books at any time.

What if I am unhappy about handing money over to the football club?
The agreed policy of the Society at present is that we will not hand any cash over to the club. Instead we hope to respond to a request in writing, agree what they require money for and pay the invoices. Examples would be improved facilities for the disabled supporters or better toilets! The relationship is expected to be similar to that between schools and P.T.A's (parent-teacher association).

How will the society run?
The Society is run by a Board. An AGM is held every twelve months to elect officers, though an extraordinary general meeting may be called at an time. The ultimate decision makers are the members of the Society.

How much will it cost?
The annual membership fee has been set at £5 for adults and £2 for junior (under 16) members. £1 of the initial fee will be used to purchase one share in the Society. Extra donations will of course be very gratefully received.

Who is eligible to join?
In a word, anybody. Though in reality we expect the membership to be mainly supporters of Bromsgrove Rovers Football Club. In addition we believe many people of the District of Bromsgrove remember the pride brought to the area when the club was in the Conference and we hope they will support our objectives even if they are not necessarily keen football fans.
