Bromsgrove Rovers Football Club owner named - 29/10/2009

THE man set to take over the running of Bromsgrove Rovers has been named as Mike Ward.

A statement, issued by administrators Sanderlings, said an offer had been accepted from Mr Ward for the purchase of the company’s assets last Thursday, (October 22).

It read: “A formal sale agreement is currently been drawn up, subject to contract and strictly subject to the approval of the Football Association and the company's creditors.”

In a ‘message for our fans’, placed on Bromsgrove Rovers Official Website today, (October 27), Mr Ward said: “Until everything is finalised I think it would not be right for me to start issuing statements to the press of what our intentions are for the future of the club.

“I am not one for seeking publicity, I prefer to remain low profile.

“When everything is finalised then and only then will I speak publicly of our intentions regarding the future of your football club.”

The statement continued: “We have already had a request from your football society for a meeting who have indicated that they would like to work with us which is most gratifying and one we would look forward to.

“When we are in place we must all work together for the future of Bromsgrove Rovers.”

Mike Ward’s statement revealed there were other people involved in the bid, and stressed the previous owners are “no way involved with us.”

Mr Ward said he had been at last Saturday’s home game against Hitchin Town, and was due to attend the League Cup clash with Stourport Swifts, this evening (October 27).

Rob McLaren, one of the organisers of a failed rival bid from Bromsgrove Sporting Limited, said: “We wish the new owners well, and look forward to an open meeting with fans.”
